The fabrics below lend themselves to T-shirt quilts particularly well. Please be aware that colors on monitors change the “look” of fabrics. You need to decide on a main fabric and possibly a secondary color or two. For example, in the quilt to the right, the main color is red with the secondary colors yellow and brown. Only the primary colors are shown. Please specify inner border and cornerstone fabric colors and I will select those out of my stash or the local quilt shop that best suit your quilt. These prices reflect “standard” size adult logos of no bigger than 16 inches. If the logos are significantly smaller (like in a child’s quilt) or significantly bigger then the price of the fabric may change. Occasionally I can use a special piece of cloth for the cornerstones like a special shirt or uniform skirt.

Primary T-Shirt Quilt Colors

These are scanned swatches of fabric. They appear brighter in the pictures than in real life. In reality, most of these fabrics are what I would call "jewel tones." These are just some of the fabrics I have. Many more are available but have not yet been scanned. Please email me with a color and I can work with you to choose one. Swatch cards for specific colors are available free of charge to customers. This is a very small selection of the ever changing fabrics I have available.

REDFIBERS - Subtle red shades are printed to resemble fibers. It has the look of handmade paper.

RED FOSSIL FERN - This fabric is a little bit brighter than the Red Fibers and has the look of water droplets and imprinted subtle ferns.

BLUE SWIRLS - Royal blue fabric has lighter blue swirls and small red dots.

NAVY BLUE - Dark gray/blue fabric with "spraypainted" navy blue. This is a very dark fabric and a great alternative to black or gray.

GREEN DOTS - The actual fabric is deeper in color than the photograph but still a lot of fun. The light green dots over the surface adds a neat effect.

PURPLE PAINT - This purple has a slight red tone to it. It looks like sponge paint

.VIOLET SWISH - This fabric is much more purple than the photo shows. It has "swishes" all over it that look like someone took a paintbrush and painted it

Choosing Your Own Fabric
If you would like to pick out your own fabric, you are welcome to do so. The fabric needs to be purchased according to my specifications. It must be 100% cotton and I strongly encourage you to shop at your local quilt shop for it. Quilt shops carry much higher quality fabrics than many chain stores. I provide the batting, thread, interfacing for fusing the shirts and professional machine quilter’s fee as part of the package price. When you give me the details on your shirts I will send you a yardage and price quote. When choosing fabric please make sure you get at least the amount I give you in your yardage requirements. Extra is always welcome. All extra usable fabric will be returned to you at the delivery of the quilt.

Colors
Here are my color preferences for the Standard T-shirt quilt though you may do whatever you like. I try to find fabrics that have some sort of subtle print. Complete solids look very flat. Prints add interest to the quilt.

Sashing, Outer Border and Binding: Bright color of a medium or darker value, i.e. red, blue, green or purple.

Cornerstones: Light value fabric like yellow, light orange or tan ***

Inner border: Dark value fabric like brown, black or a dark version of another color. ***

*** This also looks very nice reversed with light colored inner border and darker cornerstones or no cornerstones.

Secondary Fabric Colors:
Inner Border and Optional Cornerstones

I can do any fabric color as a secondary color. If for instance, you choose blue for your primary T-shirt quilt color, yellow for your inner border and dark blue for your cornerstones, I will go into my stash (or the local quilt shop) and match a yellow and a dark blue specifically to the primary fabric and the shirts. Cornerstone fabrics are optional. Sometimes a quilt looks better with them, sometimes with just sashing and an inner border. Please feel free to ask for my help in deciding if you wish.
